NATIONAL ELEPHANT DAY 2008.

NATIONAL ELEPHANT DAY 13TH MARCH 2008.

What a great day! Kubota donated 3 million baht of tractors for the farm! WOW! This means we can concentrate on growing even more food! Which means we can get more elephants! yeah! There was so much support on the day it was fantastic!

The day began with elephant bones being blessed by the monks and then speeches from the Governor and other significant people. The Nigerian Ambassador came as did quite a few well known VIPs. We had a lot of support from local expats as well as businesses. After the elephants came and ate, some had a play with the fire hose and sand and we went back to the Kraal where a shipment of sand was placed in the field for the old elephants and mothers and babies to play in.

Michelle and I had to also help the Nigerian Ambassador and his wife who were participating in a TV program, Diplomats in Siam. We went to the farm with them and they rode elephants there. It was a huge day in the end.

Bronwyn and Lenin were with us on the day and Bronwyn got a lot of attention and was on the TV and in the thai papers as she rode Pisamy, and Lenin got into the Bangkok Post (see below).

We got lots of publicity.
three thai newspapers carried pics and of course there was TV coverage.

Saturday 15th September 2007. The Royal Elephant Kraal organises eighty elephants to parade in Bangkok in honour of the King of Thailand's 80th birthday and a special exhibition of the Buddha's relics.
